I have never had sex before, but I believe my period is late. Why?

I am fifteen years old, (going on sixteen) have NEVER had sex, but my period is late. This is highly unusual for me. Three years ago, I got my first period. After my first cycle, it skipped a month and has been regular ever since. Now, I think my period is late. I've been having cramps and such over the past few days, but no menstrual fluid at all. My last period ended around December 3rd-4th, I think, but I'm still a bit worried. My boyfriend and I have never had sex, but we've come close. I've also been highly stressed out in the past month and a half, due to school work, the holiday season, and other such things. I also think I've gained a little weight, which unnerves me.

So, what's wrong? Was I just ovulating? Is it because of stress or hormones? I'm really worried. Please help!

Anon - Yes, stress can cause a change in your cycle, even if it has been regular for a long time, like in your case. Just give it a while longer and try to enjoy being in a new year.
