I've been taking Tamoxifen for 11 months because of breast cancer. Is there any over the counter medicine that I can take to ease these hotflashes? They're aweful.

Dear Anonymous

Thanks for your post and I am so sorry that you are dealing with hot flashes. From personal experience (post-partum hot flashes) I can tell you they are a miserable thing to deal with.

I hesitate to recommend anything to you due to your cancer diagnosis and use of Tamoxifen. Anything you do use over the counter MUST be taken under your doctor's advice. Just because something is over-the-counter, doesn't make it safe to take.

Take a look here for natural ways to treat hot flashes but please make sure to talk to your doctor before you take anything.
