Pain in arm after flu shot

I had a flu shot Sept. 2008 and remember it hurt when given. Since then I have pain in my upper arm and shoulder (it's now been a year). I believe it is nerve damage from the needle going to deep. I have had an MRI. meds and now going to Chiro with no relief. I cant't put my arm behind my back or lift it over my head and forget about putting weight on it. Does anyone know of relief for this condition?

Thanks

I had an MRI - which only showed I had a herniated disc at the C5 - C6 which has probably been there for years and an EMG. I was sent to a nuerologist that was a surgeon and he didn't even want to listen to me and just wanted to do surgery for the herniated disc. I had my Dr. and another nuerologist both say they believed it was from the shot which was too high up on my arm and I was sitting and he was standing so the needle was at the wrong angle. I have been on numerous medications, but the gabapentin seems to work the best. I also went to physical therapy 3 times. That does not seem to be helping much and I do the excercises at home also. I found accupuncture and massage therapy helps the most. I am going into my fifth week. The pain in the beginning was about an 8, now it is between a 3 to 5. The pain is constant. I would definetly go back to the Dr. and explore other avenues.

I have exactly the same symptoms you describe except the pain does not radiate to my fingers. My flu shot was at Target in the beginning of November 2014. I made sure to use my arm a lot and in the first few days it felt like it normally does after a flu shot. But then it hurt more, and now it hurts whenever I get dressed (putting my arms above my head, reaching back to put a coat on, trying to put lotion on my back) and when I sleep on it. My physical therapist said it is nerve damage as they hit my axillary nerve. She said it will hopefully go away, but that was a few weeks ago. She told me to stretch it a couple of times a day by grabbing the back of my opposite shoulder from the front (like a one arm hug) 30 seconds a few times a day. It is not improving so I will see my doctor next week. I also have significant weakness in that arm that I only really notice in my fitness class.

Hi. I'm researching people who have had flu shots and arm pain/nerve damage and would like to interview patients about their experiences. Please contact me or let me know where to contact you and I can explain further. Thanks very much for your help on this important topic.

I would like to know if you finished your research as yet. If so what was the outcome? I have posted on this site several times about my experience with the vaccine. Right now I am still dealing with the pain, which reoccurs yearly.
