Hi poojamohta19,
Thank you for your question and for finding EmpowHER. When were you last at your doctor's office? If it was when you initially had your cold, and your sore throat is persisting two months later, you may want to get back in to have your throat checked out. It is possible you may have a secondary infection following the cold, or something else could be going on.
Bear in mind, that smoking can decrease your ability to fight off infection, and can exacerbate health problems (that means it can make them worse), so the best thing you can do is quit smoking altogether. I know that is one of the hardest things to do, so if you are serious about improving your overall health, and preventing cancer, ask your doctor for help. Check this out for other ways (in addition to quitting smoking) you can work at preventing throat cancer: Natural Ways to Prevent Throat Cancer
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
