Hi, I'm 16 years old. I think my menstrual flow is very heavy and it may need medical attention but I don't know . I use tampons as it is too messy to wear pads .Yesterday I wore 5 SUPER sized tampons(Tampax Compax ) that were all REALLY FULL and one pad around nighttime. I leaked on two of the tampons.I changed on average every 2 and half hours .I felt extremely weak all day (almost about to faint) aswell as stomach pain constantly. Is this normal for a girl my age ? Should I get medical help is it bad for me to wear super plus ?

Hi Jenny,

Welcome to woman-hood! Someone forgot to tell you how crappy it can be at times, eh? There are things that can help you with your heavy cycle. Have you ever considered birth control? You should talk to your parents about your concerns with your doctor. Birth control often helps control the flow of your cycle and if you are irregular - this will also help maintain a regular cycle. Do yourself a big favor and make a doctor's appointment. Your doctor will provide you with several options to help you and believe me that I understand what you are going through as I had the same thing. It is not uncommon to have the heavy cycle but there are solutions that your doctor can explain to you in more detail and then you can make your choice.

Talk to your Mother also about this also. Do not be afraid or embarrassed about it - it is very common. I know in my family, my Mom had the same issue and immediately helped me and made a doctors appointment for me. I am sure she will be happy to help you through this as well.

Good luck and let us know if you need any additional information.

Missie
