How do I know if i'm going through menopause? What are the symptoms? How long does this normally last?

Hi Anon

Great question - thank you!

The average age for menopause is about 52 but it can start much earlier or later - genetics can be a factor in that. Menopause can last a year or up to ten years.

Symptoms of menopause include:

Irregular periods

Hot Flashes

Skin and vaginal dryness

Insomnia or broken sleep

Remember all women are different. Some may get few symptoms, others may get the whole shebang. Some women are done in a year, others have years of discomfort. If symptoms are very uncomfortable, see a doctor or naturopath  - there are treatments available .

Also remember that menopause is a natural life cycle for women and is not a health condition.

We have a great article here that can explain the symptoms in more detail:

Has this helped, Anon?
