Hi Miya

There is no age (such as "50") for the beginning or ending or menopause. It varies among women - anywhere from 40 to the late 50s.It is a natural stage in life but can be spurned on by illnesses and/or surgeries.

Menopause is considered OVER after a year of no periods, it doesn't start then. But this can take a long time because women can have years of being irregular etc. Our readers need to know the facts about menopause.

Hi Anon

Thanks for your post!

The average age for menopause is about 52. Of course, not all women will start at this age. Some women are a lot later, some earlier. It has a genetic component too.

Are you wondering for yourself?
