Many women still have regular period in their mid-40s but some start seeing a change, including clotting and a lot of bleeding. This is due to menopause - or more likely perimenopause - the years before actual menopause sets in . These phases are a normal part of our life cycle.

Since you are experiencing such excessive bleeding, put a call into your doctor just in case something else is going on. Some blood tests can check to see your hormone levels.
