VIDEO - HERSTORY: Rosa Shares Her Experience With Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Dahiya

Rosa explains why she chose bariatric surgeon Dr. Shyam Dahiya to perform her gastric bypass surgery and her experience with him.

Rosa:
So after I found that I was very sick from my liver, this doctor recommended to Dr. Dahiya. I cannot think of what his name, but it was an internal medicine doctor. “Go see him; he can help you. The only way your liver is going to get better is by losing the weight.”

So when I came to Dr. Dahiya’s office, and Amelia also was the Health Director, and they went over with me with everything–all kinds of paperwork, my insurance–everything.

But I feel that this office, Dr. Dahiya’s office, they are not in for the money. They are in to help and better the lives of their patients and their entire families. It was–they look at me and I feel like comfortable. I wasn’t like, “Oh, I am scared of this doctor; I have never seen this doctor.” Nothing like that. I felt like they were, oh, I knew them all my life.

Inventing just another story, it’s not like that. Believe me. I mean, like I said, they work with me. I went over with all, each question, anything that I could not understand I felt free and comfortable asking the doctor. Most of the time you go the doctor’s office and you are in and out within ten minutes. You spend most of time with the nurses, not with Dr. Dahiya.

Dr. Dahiya was always available for me to ask any questions. I can remember it was like over maybe 50 questions about it and he will go over and over, and I always have also the support of Amelia. She is a very good person, just like Dr. Dahiya. They made me feel so comfortable, made me feel that it’s like, you know, in any surgery there’s a risk, but they made me feel that’s like their hands are being guided by God. That’s how secure I felt with Dr. Dahiya.
