Shannon:
People treat me different. You can just tell. People don’t stare when I walk in the door. They see me wearing different kinds of clothes. They see me wearing more age-appropriate and fitting clothes, whereas before I used to wear huge clothes thinking it made me look smaller by wearing bigger clothes whereas it really didn’t, it just made me look bigger but just, I mean, people that haven’t seen again, in a long time, they just can’t believe.
I mean, it’s amazing. I walk in and they are like, “Oh my gosh! I can’t believe how good you look!” So, it makes you feel good; makes you feel confident, so it’s nice.
Since I’ve had the gastric bypass, the way people, men, specifically, look at you is completely different. Before it was as if you weren’t even in the room. You would walk in and/or there would be either be a snicker or comment or something or just nothing at all.
Now when you walk by, when I walk by, they say stuff, sometimes not good, I mean as far as the cat calling type of stuff, but I went out with some friends last night and so probably one of the first times I’ve gone out dancing and I danced the entire night.
Eleven months ago I would be sitting and just having a couple of drinks with my friends and no attention at all from men, but now, fantastic time, out dancing till the bar closed at 2:00. So, it’s a lot more fun and it makes you feel so much better and more confident just to be able to walk in the room.
