Thanks ladies! I have read all the posts, because I am considering BHRT. I just had my ovaries removed 4 weeks ago and my uterus was removed four years ago. I am having not sweats every hour and can't sleep. I am slow to start my day and feel terrible. I just want some relief. My doctor is a specialist in the Sotto Pelle therapy. I haven't talked with her yet, but I will when I go for my 6 weeks post op. I sweating as I type these comments. Do you think the pellets work for women with no uterus or ovaries? I hope this is the answer for me.

Hi,
June 26, 2011 - 7:11pmWomen who have had ovaries removed with their uterus need all their hormones replaced, and the sooner the better, so it's great you will be discussing this with your doc soon. Since everybody is different, you'll need a dosage prescribed just for you. Literature supports BHRT boosts the immune system and for women who are predisposed to rheumatoid arthritis, they may have a 4 times increased risk without it. Be sure to ask about your FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) level as the pituitary gland also control hormone levels. Since the pellets are designed for 6 month time-release, your doc may opt to begin with a different delivery system to make quicker adjustments until a suitable balance is acheived.
Best Wishes,
Brenda

I have been using sotto pelle for about 6 years. Originally loved it and still do but I notice there is some pain I get that may be associated with the testosterone. My sister uses sotto pelle and also notices more pain in her body and she too suspects the testosterone. I will get the lowest dose next time I go.

I talked to the people at bodylogicmd, and I canNOT pay that kind of money. It is nuts what they want. I have an appointment with my ob/gyn in a few weeks to at least get a blood test and see what she has to say. The pellets are cheaper and I may consider them.

Hi AZ,
April 7, 2011 - 8:02pmI'm in FL and each physician in that program sets his/her own price I'm told. Sorry they wanted an arm and a leg in AZ! There are other options; you'll become a sleuth to find a perfect fit for you. I was recently advised by my ob/gyn that effective this year, Medicare will begin to pay one half the cost for the pellet since it's considered a hormone treatment for women. (previously I'd forked over $350.-$400. every 5 months, while the doctors fee and lab work was covered by insurance). If you can find an ob/gyn who is trained to use them, it seems your insurance might now begin to pick up some of the tab since many insurances add it to their reimbursement schedules once it begins to be reimbursed by Medicare. Many ob/gyns will still try to discourage you from bioidentical replacement; just keep pressing until you find someone who can using them to get your body back to optimum levels. No synthetics.
I'm pulling for you!

If I want to get a blood test done to find out my level, do I go to my primary care or my gynecologist?

I am 55 years old and I am considering the sottopelle because I feel so bad, but am very concerned about bleeding, I don't want to and the increase in libido. My husband had his prostate removed and that is just not part of our lives anymore. Reading some of this stuff scares me.

I have been doing Sottopelle for a little over a year. I have loved them. They have helped with thinking, skin, energy and sex drive. Last month I had a six week period that I had to take Provera to get it to stop. This month I am on my 2nd week of having my period. I don't know if this is the sottopellets or something else. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The doctor says she isn't sure at this time. It could be my body's reaction to the long term use of the pellets.

Hi Anonymous,
December 27, 2010 - 5:50pmI heard back from the expert, and he suggested you schedule a visit with your gynecologist to fully evaluate your condition (regarding the bleeding), and verify if Sottopelle is the best choice for you. He suggested the problem with a product like this is there is no information about safety or quality control. The FDA has raised some concern, and has asked labs to bring forth further information to evaluate its efficacy and safety.
Here is one such article about that: FDA Warns Against Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy

Hi Anonymous,
December 27, 2010 - 7:58amGlad the pellets seem to be working for you. But that extended period might be a concern. Has your doctor said what she plans to do? At what point will she check you out to make sure there isn't a medical reason (besides for the pellets) that you are having this bleeding. I have heard of women having similar experiences, but not sure of the cause. Do you and your doctor feel you are on the right levels for you?
I want to ask an expert related to the website if it's ok with you. I'm curious what could be causing it.
I'll let you know when I hear something. In the meantime, let us know what you find out and how you're doing.
