Listen as Edith, who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1997, shares her experience living with disease.
Edith:
My name is Edie (Edith) and I am a diabetic. I was diagnosed with diabetes after my heart attack in 1997, and they did two stents at that time. So after that I thought, "I couldn’t be diabetic, they got it wrong," but blood tests worked out to where ‘"Yes, I was diabetic," and I went on medical pills to begin with.
Well, I really wasn’t too happy, but I kind of knew it was a foregone conclusion because my sister is diabetic, my brother was diabetic, my grandfather was diabetic, so I just had a foregone conclusion that it was true. So, I’ve dealt with it, since then it has about 11 years.
