Insulin Needles

By August 9, 2010 - 7:50pm

I remember sitting and staring at the insulin syringe for long time during my pregnancy and feeling sorry for myself for being in that situation. It was not the insulin I was concerned about, it was the fear of injecting that long needle. It was a twenty seven gauge needle and I was always afraid of the pain when I stuck it into my body. Now there are thirty one gauge short, micro needles in the market that made my life easy somewhat. I know many of my diabetic friends and family members feel that they could use an alternative for injections like insulin patches or pills.........

I know there are those products that I spoke about, pills and patches but they are not in the market yet. Hopefully we will have them soon so people like me wouldn't suffer with the fear of injecting ourselves. And then comes the insulin pump, I hope I won't get into that situation and someone would come up with a better alternative like a pace maker or a medicated stent that would take years to release the insulin as the body needs.

Thank you for your post. I don't have diabetes, and couldn't imagine being in your situation. Pregnancy can be tough enough without dealing with a condition like diabetes, right? Sounds like you have found a great option. Have you tried any of the patches or pills like your family and friends? I wonder what the pros and cons are. Do you know?
Thanks again for being part of this group.
