What was your surgeons "goal weight" ?

By June 8, 2012 - 12:03pm

Curious from folks who have had weight loss surgery:

What was your surgeon's "goal weight" for you post-surgery? Did you meet it? Not meet it? Exceed it?

Mine was 185 lbs. I currently weight 168, four years out. The number DOES NOT MATTER. What I'm curious about is what type of numerical goals surgeons have set for their patients and how realistic they were. Thanks!

Description

I had RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery on March 25, 2008 and have since maintained a loss of 150 lbs. I would love for this group to be a resource for others considering weight loss surgery, and I am happy to answer any questions that people might have. (Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, but will be happy to share information about my own weight loss surgery experience.) This group was created as a space for people to share their stories, ask questions from other patients who've been through the process, and to hear real and powerful stories - both the good and bad - to be informed about a post-operative life. Please share your stories, ask questions, and remember that this is a space for support and friendship.
