Male Factor Infertility. Have you seen a Urologist yet?

Have you or your partner had a semen analysis which resulted in the diagnosis of male factor infertility? If so, what steps have you taken since? Did you move forward with infertility treatment? Did your partner get an evaluation by a Urologist?

A thorough exam by a Urologist is incredibly important to support and preserve a man's sexual and reproductive health. Why would there be a low count, poor motility or vitality? There could be a simple reason with an uncomplicated treatment option.
Some individuals put off seeing a Urologist for various reasons: financial, time, emotional, etc. This is a disservice to the patient as some medical conditions could be a determining factor, such as being a carrier for Cystic Fibrosis or having testicular cancer or low testosterone levels.

Typically, there is an answer to what is causing male factor infertility and whether there is anything that can be done to treat the condition. You must see the appropriate medical expert to learn the answers.

The American Urological Association Foundation can help you find a Urologist, today. http://www.urologyhealth.org/urology/findurologist.cfm

If a lack of insurance coverage is stopping you from seeking a consultation with a Urologist, you are encouraged to advocate for insurance coverage. Fertility Within Reach, www.fertilitywithinreach.org, is a nonprofit organization which provides strategies and tools to guide individuals impacted by infertility to effectively communicate with their medical team, legislative representatives, employers, and insurers. You must be proactive for a chance to gain this health benefit.
