Anyone still interested in joining up to lose 8 pds or just being supportive of those who ...
I would like people to sign in just to be supportive of those who would like to lose weight.I would like to hear from people who could leave helpful tips. And for people who need help if you could leave us reasons why you are having difficulty losing weight then it could be beneficial for all of us to learn from one and other. Thanks
I am looking for ways to lose the weight off my belly.I am doing my best with excerise, walking, and eating properly but still finding it difficult.I know I am under alot of stress and most MDs' agree too that belly fat is linked to stress, anything I can do about this issue.I am now finding this overwhelming to deal with.

I'd like to join this group. My thyroid went out and my weight went up , 30 pounds over 18 months. I've always loved running and being active, but I'm having a tough time getting back into the habit. Plus , I think I have a fear of getting run down again. Help me start again. I'm walking a little during my lunchtime to just het moving. I lose motivation as the day progresses. Anyone w thyroid history problems who has lived to tell....I want to hear from you!! Thank you.

Hi cyn945
Thanks for joining!
I agree that our thyroid can really affect our weight.
You're on the right track: start slowly but set a goal. 15 minutes a day is a great start. A couple of weeks later, try for 30 minutes. Make your goals realistic but challenge yourself. Bring out your competitive side! I'm naturally competitive and somehow I compete against myself without really knowing it!
Join a group and hold yourself accountable. You're a big girl now and you have to answer to yourself - and others! Working out with others will help you show up, keep up and finish out the exercise. It's also a great way to meet other women and it's therapeutic too. Women are talkers and emotional. You'll be surprised how much life support you'll get, and end up meeting your new friend for lunch, for coffee or for a night weekend cocktail.
Exercise in the evening to stop yourself from mindless eating while watching TV. Stop buying unhealthy foods! Seriously! If it's not in your home, you can't eat it!
So all in all, I think joining a group of like minded exercisers will help. Try a water aerobics class, yoga, Zumba or the many others that are available.Your local paper, community centers or rec and ed places are a good place to start.
Good luck!

Hi Susan,
Thank you for your warm welcome. I recently ended a long distance relationship and have felt a little lonely ....so the emotional support from women is most welcome!
My 23 yr old daughter signed us up ( along with 4 friends and their moms) to run the Nike WOmen's marathon, we're only running the half but that's still 13.5 miles !! I've done this before , by myself , and have wanted to get back into running ....now I have a goal to get in shape and finish strong along with the younger crowd.
My thyroid problem identified the need for balance and I am cognisent of my need to move (my body) and be around other empowered people.
I work for a university and have a gym membership, so I have the resources ....I lacked the energy and the dicipline to leave the desk for tomorrow. I'm taking back my life and feeling better!!

Hi again cyn945
I am pretty fit but 13.5 miles would kill me! I'm terrible at any kind of distance running.
It's great that you are training for this - you have a goal and will stay motivated that way; especially with a bunch of other women who'll keep you in line!
I'm sorry your relationship ended, that's really hard. But you seem determined to move on and we're happy that you're here and we can support you in that!

Hi All!
I am doing well, my belly has flattened, I'm eating well and exercising a lot. I've dropped a few pounds and hope to be in the 130s in a few weeks.
Best,
~Susan
