I've posted in this group as much as I've ran lately! So clearly that means two things, I need to post and get my run on! I signed up for the January Arizona Rock 'n Roll marathon and need to get my butt in gear. With the colder weather lately, now when I say cold I mean Arizona cold which translates to 60 degrees which to me is COLD, it has become harder to run in the dark cold mornings before work or in the dark cold evenings after work. How people on the East Coast, where the weather truly is freezing, train for anything let alone workout at all is beyond me! I need something to get me going! Maybe a running group or a even a running buddy? I say this now, yet when it comes down to it trying to coordinate a run with someone can be slightly annoying.
Running on the treadmill simply is not fun, but lately that's all I got going for me. Does anyone have any great, truly different winter running training tips? I want this January marathon to be as enjoyable as a marathon can be. I want to finish and feel good about it. With my last marathon I have a lot to live up to. It felt great, I was on a runner's high all the way through the finish line. I even bet my goal time by more than 10 minutes. Originally, I wanted to qualify for the Boston marathon this time around (3:40). I only need to cut-off 12 minutes (last time was 3:52), but is that even possible with less than 3 months to go? Tips, help, anything please!
