Living with Lung Cancer and Waiting for tomorrow

I made it another day at home! Christine had to travel back to Boston today, which left me home alone for the first time in awhile.

Today I started feeling sick and nauseous again and ended up sleeping most of the day. I did go look at another rental property with Wes today up at Pinnacle Peak, but the place ended up being too small. Most of the places that are available are too small!! It’s not even that they are slightly small, but only have 4 bedrooms and usually one of those or two have twin beds. Hopefully, I will have more luck later this week.

Tomorrow I go in for my Petscan and will be spending the majority of the day at CTCA in and out of doc appointments. I am nervous and wishing that I had a caregiver or Wes to go with me as my cheerleader. Tomorrow will be the first time that I have navigated this by myself, so we’ll see what happens. I already messed up by eating a high carb dinner of simple pasta. Of course, this is before I check my e-mail and receive the daily schedule for tomorrow and the instructions to eat a low carb dinner around 8pm for the Petscan. Oops!! I do have to admit that my big bowl of carbs and garlic were awesome!!! I still feel sick though from eating too much.

My legs are still swollen from this new blood clot in my left leg. It has been awhile since I have had to deal with the side effects of these and forgot how annoying the swelling can be. My jeans and shoes just don’t fit quite right on the leg that has the blood clot. My foot looks like a little sausage and I feel just swollen all over. At least the Relistor shot that I did this am worked magically. Relistor is this stuff that I received back when I had the distended stomach and went to Scottsdale Healthcare to get it taken care of. You inject yourself in the stomach and then it is suppose to help you “go to the bathroom” within 30 minutes to 24 hrs. Between the colonics and the shot that I gave myself I feel like my stomach is actually functioning again!

Hi Melissa -
It's good to hear from you again and get your update. Even though you're nervous, I know you're a strong person and am confident you will find a way to navigate your way around for the various appointments. If you feel discouraged, maybe thinking about how good the pasta and garlic tasted will lift your spirits. :-)
Good luck, and let us know how things go.

Melissa,

Hoping the petscan shows good results! We are all pulling for you out here!! (And wow, so many appointments! You know that would tire MOST people, right?) You are amazing.
