Dr. Scherwitz:
Hi, I am Dr. Larry Scherwitz. I have a Ph.D. in Social Psychology, three years of postdoctoral training in behavioral medicine, a fellowship training in cardiovascular psychophysiology from Harvard Medical School, and many years of research in what risk factors cause heart disease and how do you prevent, halt, or reverse heart disease.

Presently I work as a Health Strategist and Cardiac Coach helping individuals reverse or prevent the heart disease as well as other chronic illnesses, and I also work as a Research Consultant designing studies to evaluate the efficacy or the benefit of various complementary and alternative therapies.

Also, I worked with Dr. Dean Ornish when he was a medical student. I was his mentor and we worked together for over 18 years to evaluate whether comprehensive lifestyle changes could reverse heart disease.

A woman can decrease her odds of heart disease by reducing stress, increasing social support, and also keeping a normal blood pressure, normal cholesterol, normal weight, normal blood glucose levels to reduce the amount of inflammation in their bloodstream such as with good dental hygiene and eating a healthy diet.
