Kathy:

One thing that’s very important is to have a running log. This is, you know, I think it is very important to say that I don’t believe that I have cured my MS. If I don’t take my hormones and I do take cortisol, thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone on a daily basis, if I don’t take those hormones, my symptoms come roaring back. So it is very important, in order to be completely healthy and symptom-free, to manage that process.

So one thing I do is I have a notebook that I keep a running log every single day, what dose and medication I take and when I take it. It takes me two minutes. It is absolutely nothing in the scheme of things and I am healthier than most of my girlfriends who are 55, as I am. So, I feel that that’s a very small price to pay. It’s important to monitor your symptoms.

So you look at whatever your key symptoms are. When I start feeling my symptoms coming back, if I, you know, I forget to take my thyroid medication, which honestly very rarely happens, you know, by about 10 o’clock, I’ll start getting extremely tired. My right hand will get numb again. I’ll start feeling those things coming back. So, monitoring your symptoms is incredibly important.

Also, obviously important is doing blood levels. This is a very quantifiable objective path. All you have to do is go to your doctor and get your blood levels of these hormones measured. In the book, I have put all the different hormones that should be measured. I have put a lot of information about the tests that are required to do that.

Hormone tests are sometimes not completely conclusive. It’s important to do the right tests. If you go to your doctor, sometimes they will just give you the cursory test. They’ll not give you everything you need to really find out what’s going on. So, you have to go and work with your doctor on a regular basis to monitor the blood levels of these hormones. So, this is either a solution for you or not and if you go to your doctor you find that out--very black and white.
