There's a full-page tribute to Tim Russert in today's New York Times -- I got teary just seeing his smiling face on that big page. He will truly be missed, especially with the elections coming up.....

Kristin Davis

The most regrettable thing about Tim Russerts death is that he had very obvious myxedema, a result of unrecognized and untreated hypothyroidism. (which is virtually always concomitant with diabetes).

It is well known that people with hypothyroidism have a greatly accelerated rate of atherosclerosis, leading to heart disease and heart attacks.

Tim's death is emblematic of the scandalously poor clinical recognition and unreliable lab tests used to diagnose hypothyroidism.

I hope his journalist friends will pick up that story and fight for it in his honor.
