Dr. Wang explains how osteoporosis affects a woman's spine.
Dr. Wang:
Well, osteoporosis is a significant problem, especially in women where they tend to develop osteoporosis as they age. This can significantly affect the spine. The bone becomes weaker. They can get small microfractures. They can get a big fracture, but they can get microfractures, which changes the alignment of the spine.
I think we have all seen older people where they walk with a forward bent posture. A lot of that is due to their osteoporosis.
