Dr. Shulman:

Well, if it's just removing the uterus, the answer is no. If it is removing the uterus and ovaries, clearly there is an increase in libido problems in women who have surgical menopause, essentially the definition of removing one’s ovaries. These women actually have the highest rates of hypoactive sexual disorder and they have tended to respond the best at least in the transdermal testosterone trials to that low-dose transdermal testosterone preparation. So, surgically menopausal women clearly have some of the highest rates of sexual problems and in particular sexual interest problems.
