Dr. Kharazmi:
Those are some of the symptoms of thyroid disorder, but for some it maybe more salient in terms of just little tiny changes in behavior, just not to be able to maintain their work hours what they were before. The answer is a simple test would be, do a thyroid stimulating hormone test, a very sensitive form of it is available.
I like to always check a free T3 and a free T4. Again those are the active thyroid hormones available. The reason you want to do that is because some people produce enough of one hormone, but they don’t produce enough of other and if you don’t check it, then you’ll miss it.
So, those are customary tests to do to perform for people who are thought to have thyroid disorders but again, make sure that the clinical symptoms also are relevant and appropriate for disorder. But again, we’re not just treating lab tests, we’re treating the whole patient.
