Dr. Theodore Friedman specializes in hard-to-diagnose-and- treat cases of adrenal, pituitary, thyroid, and fatigue disorders. He's been with the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine since 2005 and serves as Chief of the Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine Division at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. He also served as Director of the Multi-Disciplinary Chronic Fatigue Clinic at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 1998-2000.

Dr. Friedman has a private practice near Beverly Hills, California as well as privileges at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Martin Luther King Medical Center.

Dr. Friedman earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1980, a Master of Philosophy in Pharmacology and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from City University of New York in 1984and 1986, respectively, and his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in 1987. He completed his residency at University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan between 1987-1989.

Dr. Friedman has received numerous honors throughout his lifetime, beginning in 1980 when he graduated with Distinction. In 1986 he received a Doctoral Dissertation Award for best thesis, and in 1993 he earned the Outstanding Achievements in Promoting Black Employees Award.

Dr. Friedman’s practice includes detecting and treating hormone imbalanced, including hormone replacement therapy. He is also an expert in diagnosing and treating pituitary disorders, including Cushing’s disease and syndrome, and continues his research in an ongoing quest to understand and treat endocrine problems. He has received several research grants covering hormone regulation, including thyroid, POMC, testosterone, and pancreatic functions.

Dr. Friedman's career reflects his ongoing quest to better understand and treat endocrine problems. With both medical and research doctoral degrees, he has conducted studies and cared for patients at some of the country's most prestigious institutions, including the University of Michigan, the National Institutes of Health, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and UCLA's Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science.

Throughout his career Dr. Friedman has delivered over 50 lectures and presentations throughout the United States and abroad on a variety of research and diagnostic topics. He has also published over 50 peer-reviewed research papers and over 50 abstracts, as well as authoring chapters and review articles on various medical topics.
