I had gastric by-pass surgery on May 24, 2006. Initially I lost 94lbs. and then reached a plateau. I have struggled to keep the weight off and have not been as successful as I would like. I have regained 16lbs. I am not currently exercising because of my impending replacement of my left knee. I know if I exercise I will drop that 16lb. regained weight and keep losing to reach my goal of almost 4 years ago.
I joined this forum to reinforce the fact that gastric by-pass surgery is NOT the be all end all. The one thing I learned from my weightloss team way before my surgery took place is that the surgery is just another tool to put in your tool belt. You still have to work at keeping the weight off! Using your tool correctly and changing your habits is the only way to be successful.
