Dr. Tariot shares the symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease.
Dr. Tariot:
Well, the most common early manifestation of Alzheimer’s disease is loss of memory, words and names, getting confused about where one is or where one’s going. Later on, having trouble word finding, worse than I am doing right now, trouble with reading, writing, calculation, problem-solving, so as the disease progresses, more and more thinking abilities get affected. Problem-solving, judgment, insight. So early on it tends to be subtle, but by the time we’re in to the illness, it’s pretty clear that this is a person who is really having trouble functioning on a daily basis.
