Karine describes what it feels like when she is having an asthma attack.
Karine:
The best way I could describe it is it feels like constriction, almost like my lungs are getting smaller, like the space in my lungs is shrinking down, and there isn’t enough room for enough air to allow me to breathe. And everybody always jokingly describes an asthma attack is the sensation of an elephant sitting on your chest, and I wouldn’t describe it quite like that. To me, it doesn’t feel so much as onward pressure on the external of the chest, more is it feels like my lungs are just getting smaller, like I can’t get enough air in, I can’t get enough air out, like I am just being squeezed.
