Q:

Abdominal Cramps 10 days before expected period, pregnancy or ovulation?

I had my period Oct 5th for 6 days, Had sex Oct 11th and Oct 18th (the day before ovulation). And today Oct 23rd I'm experiencing abdominal cramps in the uterus area, I could hardly sit down. Could I be pregnant? Or is it still just ovulation? Even though my ovulation was roughly 5 days ago and did not experience this pain. I am not worried but just would like some friendly advice on what could be going on with my body. Thank you very much, look forward to ready everyone's responses.

Hello Bharati Ade,
If I understand you correctly, you had your last period on April 1, had unprotected sex beginning on April 11 and have been having painful cramping on April 17 and 18.

I am very concerned that you are having horrible pain. This is not a sign of a normal pregnancy. You may have an ectopic pregnancy.

An ectopic pregnancy is an abnormal pregnancy that occurs outside the womb (uterus). The baby (fetus) cannot survive, and often does not develop at all in this type of pregnancy.

Please give your doctor a call right away. Horrible pain should not be ignored.

Hello Mia,
There is a good chance that you can be pregnant. Having sexual intercourse during the period when you tested positive for ovulation greatly increases your chance of conception.

A blood hCG or pregnancy test can detect hCG or pregnancy hormone levels about 11 days following conception. The urine hCG test detects levels about 12 to 14 days following conception. If you don't get your period by April 11, you could take a home pregnancy test.
Best wishes,
Maryann

Maybe the cramping is related to stress or a gastrointestinal problem, it's hard to say.

Your doctor will have the answers.

Good Luck,

I started my period on December 15 and started having cramping on the 27th. This has continued for nine days now. I am on Nuvaring and feel like my chances of getting pregnant would be very low but my symptoms are all to familiar from my last pregnancy. I wasn't sure how long this cramping could last if I were pregnant. I have an appt with my doctor on Jan 11. Any suggestions as to what may possibly going on?

Hi,
If your period is late by one week, you can take a home pregnancy test. Wishing you good luck:)
