I have been on Yaz after using the 2 months injection for 9 months and before that, i have been using the 3 year implant. I was on contraceptive throughout the 4 years. 3 months back I consulted a doctor because I haven't had my periods for 9 months which makes it 12 months now. The doctor prescribed for me Yaz to assist with my hormones. I started taking the yaz while I was on the 2 months injection though when i had to return for the injection, i did not return because i had started taking Yaz a months before the injection could wash off my system.

I forget to take my pill sometimes but whenever I am due, I always take two for the day missed. This weekend I did something very stupid and I am worried I might be pregnant. I forgot to take my pill on Saturday and therefore took two pills on Sunday 3 hours later than the normal time I usually take, then later in the day (10 hours later) had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Could I be pregnant? should I be worried and take the morning after pill since it is still early hours?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Before you taken an emergency contraceptive, call your gynecologist. I am concerned about a hormonal overdose by taking an ECP and birth control. I am also concerned that you missed doses and made up for then late and did not use backup protection.

Regards,
Maryann
