Another "Pregnant? or just Stress-induced missed period?" question

The start of my most recent period was on Feb 26 - projected ovulation date being March 14, projected next period March 28 (via MyMonthlyCycles, where I have been keeping track of my period for 1 year). Average cycle - 30 days.

We had protected intercourse on March 3 and 24. The condom didn't break; slipped down maybe an inch but we pushed it right back up.

Now my period is 3 or 4 days late (depending if you count the 28th), with no usual signs of cramping etc that I normally get. Took two HPT's and both came out negative. Discharge looks normal, no tenderness of breasts or anything. I have had a little bit of an upset stomach but I think I may just be getting sick - I am under quite a bit of stress.

I know it's unlikely that I am pregnant, but I am paranoid since I can't afford to have a child right now. I have heard that stress really can throw off a regular period (I have been regular for 8 years now), but I have a hard time believing it since I am so paranoid... help? I don't know what's wrong with me!

Have a GYNO appt coming up in a month, but I'm the type of person who likes to know without going to the doc! It sure would be nice if my period would come!

Another thing on Sunday her breasts were tender but that only lasted for a day or two. I know both PMS and pregnancy can cause that but she isn't experiencing it now.

Anonymous,
Maybe she is just paranoid and she is thinking about pregnancy a lot that she started to get fake illusions of pregnancy symptoms. Yes, this can happen, and you said her breast tenderness didn't last more than a day or two. So, this might be just stress.
My advice truly to make both of you get rid of the unnecessary stress is to take a Home Pregnancy Test. (If it's been 2 weeks or more after having sex)
Home Tests are effective, easy to use and not expensive. If you are in the US you can get it from above the counter in any supermarket or pharmacy, and they are given to anyone at any age.

Best Wishes

My girlfriend has had a regular 28 day cycle for a while, except she had her period june 4th, then it took until july 4th for the next period(two days late). Now it is august 5th and it was due the 1st according to the 28 day cycle. I had unprotected sex twice for about 3 seconds both times, could pre ejaculation occur that fast? Then one time I fingered her about an hour after I had sperm on my hands, but I thoroughly washed my hands after with soap and water this was the 23rd and 24th of july. I am going to college in a week and a half so she has had some stress because of that. last sunday, the 30th, she had a cortisone shot because she had been feeling bad, sore throat and cold for a day or two. I am very worried. Could the cold and shot and stress make her this late or do you think she is pregnant?

Anonymous,
Having sperm on your hands, washing it properly with water and fingering your girl friend one hour later will not cause pregnancy.
However, anytime unprotected sex occurs there will be chances for pregnancy.
You are right, stress can definitely delay her period and it could sometimes messes up the cycle timing/dates. So it might be just Stress causing delay or irregularity in her period.

She can take a home pregnancy test if it has been 2 weeks after having sex. These tests are usually up to 99 % percent effective.

Best Wishes.

Hi, I'm usually pretty irregular with my periods (usually anywhere from 24-38 days) but since school has ended it's been 28 days on the dot for the passed 3. My last period was from June 28th to July 3rd. I visited my boyfriend and had sex once a day from 7th to 12th, all unprotected. One of the times (i believe on the 7th) it looked like he had very little semen in the condom (i always check afterward to make sure the condom ripped). Is this weird to have very little for men? All of the other times he usually has a noticeable amount. I've been told that it's pretty easy to tell when a condom has torn but Ive never experienced it to know. I also noticed one time at the end that the condom had ridden down about two inches but it was not torn at all. He said that the type he bought had a very tight ring and it was sort of uncomfortable so It seemed strange to me that it would ride down a little bit. This was also a concern for me since this hasn't happened before and i don't know if it could let semen out.

Anyways, now i've been stressing the last week because i usually get sore breasts 1.5-2 weeks before my period, but because i haven't had it at all and it's a week till i'm supposed to get my period i'm not sure what to think.

I've also been working out quite a bit the passed 2 weeks and changing my diet substantially (to make it healthier). Could this be a cause too?

Any advice would be great. thank you!

I'm sorry you're so stressed out about this right now. For what it's worth, if you had your period on June 16 and ovulated on July 1st, then odds are that you're not pregnant and this is all stressed related. Lots of women have a hard time believing that stress can really delay your period, but it is usually the main culprit of delayed periods. You sound like you need a ray of hope, so take the pregnancy test today and keep us posted, will you?
The symptoms that you get when getting your period are not set in stone and although you can have cramps and moodiness one month, the next month could be a little better or a little worse with breast tenderness.

Best wishes,

Rosa
