Q:

Can I get pregnant if I missed a pill the night before unprotected sex, took the pill before sex, and missed more after?

I recently had unprotected sex and realized that I have missed a couple of my birth control pills. The night before having sex, I missed a pill. I figured it would be okay because I took the pill earlier that night before I had sex. The next two days I missed the pill again because I wasn't home. I am usually extremely good with remembering but this was all bad timing. What are my chances of getting pregnant

Guide

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
Usually you need to be off the pill for a week or two in order to ovulate. While missing a few pills can decrease their effectiveness, its not likely you ovulated in that short time.
When you start taking the pills again, do not double up. Simply start where you left off taking one pill at a time. Keep in mind that missing pills may also post-pone, or make your next period irregular.
If you miss your next period completely, take a pregnancy test.
