Q:

Can I get pregnant without penetration?

Hey guys, I'm freaking out. My last period was December 26 and today is January 12. Last night I was with my BF, he and I were fooling around without clothes on. No penetration (I'm a virgin) but like oral and fingering, hand job and blowjob. He didn't come on me or put it on me, but obviously I'd get semenon my hands. He and I would wash up /clean up after each one (wash hands and privates) but we did roll around and grind on each other at I times afterwords. Or at times he'd start jacking off again, not be close to coming, and finger me a bit (Sorry TMI but I want to be thorough). I've read up plenty on these things and I'm super worried since I know sperm can last from hours to days and can travel quite a distance. Is there any possibility I can get pregnant? Recommendations? Thank you.

My stomach started hurting afterwards, almost as if I felt bloated and tonight it's happening again. Should I be concerned? Or am I just overreacting?

Hello G26,

If the bloating continues or worsens, you could talk with your primary care physician. This could be a sign of a gastrointestinal problem but not pregnancy.

Hello G26,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about possibly becoming pregnant.

Without unprotected intercourse, that is penetration with ejaculation, close to or on the day of ovulation, there was no risk for becoming pregnant. Washing with soap and water afterwards would have removed any semen.

Once ejaculated, sperm can live outside the body for about 20 minutes, and in the female reproductive system, up to five days. Sperm travel from the vagina to the fallopian tubes to fertilize the released egg.

G26, from what you shared, I don't think there was any possibility for becoming pregnant.

Regards,
Maryann

I've also started getting slight cramps in addition to what I believe is bloating. No discharge and my nipples aren't sensitive. No nausea either but I have a bit over a week before my next expected period. Should I take a pregnancy test just in case?

Hi G26,

Just try to relax. It would be too early to test. I do not think you were at any risk. But, seeing a negative test result may put your mind at ease. If you chose to test, wait until your period is late by at least one week, or take an early response test as early as five days before your period is due.

Maryann

Thank you very much, I sure do hope you're right.
Is it normal that my stomach hurt afterwards and it's starting to hurt again? (11pm) Or is that probably due to nervousness

Hi G26,

Anxiety could be the reason you are having stomach discomfort and bloating.
