This story is so powerful. My sister age 35 suddenly went into VFib and was work over a 100 minutes. We heard the same thing . We didn't give up faith and she is recovering in a brain injury unit. She doing great but also has a long road ahead! Thank u for sharing your story!

I have a question, please help us. My Father ( Age 56 )had a heart attack at July 28 ( five months ago ) . He was in coma for two weeks ( ~ one week because of the "narcosis" ). He only opened his eyes sometimes and can't move his body normally and had no long term memory. After 5 week rehabilitation he now can write, speak, think, walk, read he is a little bit weak, but his short term memory is very bad, he can't remember what he did today or yesterday. Sometimes he can remember for hours, but sometimes it is difficult to remember 20 minutes later. Sometimes he remembers things but not exactly what happened for example, my grandma speaks about my cousin, next day my father thinks that we have to meet my cousin.
We are going to another rehabilitation at Januar 2. i hope they will help. Other problem is that my father has no motivation he is boring evertyhing or don't know that he is sick.
Can you help what can i do to improve him at home? We are taking the daily routine, play chess or card games, clean the house, cook dinner.
I hope he will be healthy again :(

My 25 yo son acquired an Anoxic Brain injury after he cardiac arrest from a Heart ailment. The Rehab MD said it will take 18 months for the brain to heal and reword pathways. The first 6 months he had very bad short term memory. He went to speech therapy 3 times a week for 4 months. It slowly got better. We worked with him everyday

He will always Probaly have some challenges with short term memory
But you have to find strstegies to help. Write things down daily in a calendar, use your phone with messages etc. Rehab will help develop these strategies God Bless that your dad is found do well. From what I have researched he is one of the few good outcomes. Stay positive

Try to bring him around animals. Horses are amazing to watch when they run. Petting the horses are also therapeutic. Good Luck and God Bless.

My husband is 38 years old when we rushed him to the hospital bec of an asthma attack then led to hypoxia at exactly January 16, 2015, the doctor in the emergency room told us that he was dead on arrival and was just revived so we expect to see seizures after. We spent days in the ICU and he was unresponsive to pain, hearing, sight...his eyes are always shut. On the 2nd week he opened his eyes but still unresponsive to others tests. He was prepared to have a trach tube and peg insertion on the 2nd week. After more than two months in the hospital we took him home and still caring for him, until now he is unconscious and unaware but he became very sensitive to pain, I know if his stomach is in pain of if he's uncomfortable but when I try to make eye contact with him and talk to him, he looks like in a faraway place. He does not respond to questions if he could only blink his eyes or squeeze my hand or raise his arm or leg to answer yes or no. It's been 11 months since then. On that midnight after the attack I prayed while watching him on the table being revived for God to help us and give our family a second chance and for a miracle healing although at that moment I dont have any idea of what can happen in his situation or that it can lead to a comatose stage. After so many months I feel like my heart is being pierced with needles, everytime I wake up is like a nightmare. Our 4 children are also is a big part of keeping me strong and together because I have to continue to live and be strong for them although at some time i Thought I also died but just conscious to watch everthing happen.

Hello I am letting you know that you are not alone. My mother just turned 56 and August 2015 we found her unresponsive. We got her back but she was in the ICU for weeks , un-responsive to anything. She has the trach and peg tube a month later. She does not talk or walk. She has contractures. We do believe that she communicates with us through eye movement. We pray everyday for her to recover. Just keep holding on.

My husband 56 had a sudden heart attack and went into cardiac arrest that was Niv 2015. His arms contracted nearly 100 percent. If I had known he need them stretched everyday it would not have happened. He wears elbow splits at night dynasplits during the day. He gets stretched daily. Gets trigger point needling and Botox treatments. He arms at 35 percent and he is able to use them some. As they get straightened out more the more he is able to have use. So important to get them stretched daily. Hid arms will go back to being contracted if it's not done daily. He wants to able to shave himself with a straight razor and that's his goal. I hope he can someday

My 17 got stock on speaker wire y remodel her room mayb 10 mins I want bak n seen took it off n started CPR n rescue was there in 3mins n took over at the hospital thy said give 24-72 hr to see how she his with 12hrs in thy kept saying it's bad need plain for the worst thy wasn't giving her the chance to fright for her self jus machines was doing all the work ask if her heart stop did I want them to do anything to start it again uhh yea I had Faith in her that she wasn't ready go this was a bad attcent with 24hr coming up thy wanted to do a test for brain dead n wat happens my baby girl was taken some breaths on her own. Alil help still my the meds got drop lower n her Heart was staber like she was frighting n so was I like I had this feel n hope she will get better n come out of this she was in I'm a mom so I'm always look for better not bad but I was also knowing in case there was a bad out come wit her to die but I couldn't let myself go that way so fast thy said 72hr we only going on 24 I'm laying here next to her talking to her n telling her I love her she can do this n recover from this she's a strong girl n I ain't ready give up on her so she better not like give up on her self I k ow she can hear me I do cus she making some changes for her self .I'm reading ppl story's how thy love one recover from cerebral hypoxia, n that's wat I need my baby girl to do n wen I talk to Dr nurse thy say she doing good wit this n that but she can still die like u have to have faith in her to live ain't that thy job thy ask me 12hrs in to donate I said no I'll fright till I see my baby has no fright in her n she's a real frighter but I do ask for prays n here in this hospital room now y'all stroys give me so much more hope n so happy ur love ones made a recovery I want this I believe n hope she will
