Q:

Could I be pregnant?

I'm on my second pack of birth control. I was just switched from Emoquette to Enskyce. I had unprotected sex and then missed my pill for the next two days after having sex. I didn't double up on pills and on the third day continued as normal. The same day I resumed I started breakthrough bleeding and now am on my fifth day of it. Is there a chance I could still be pregnant or no because I stared bleeding?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

I would think if you started experiencing withdrawal bleeding, you did not become pregnant. But, please double check with your gynecologist.

What if the pill I missed was the first day of the second week?

Hello JHound,

Did you miss taking only one pill? In your original post, you mention more?

Not making up for a missed dose or using backup protection can trigger ovulation and put you at risk if you have intercourse.

Again, if you had withdrawal bleeding, you did not become pregnant.

Please speak with your gynecologist. Another type of birth control, like an IUD, may work better for you.

Maryann
