Hello Anonymous,

What is your definition of a virgin? Is it some one who has never had sex? Do you consider being touched in your vagina as sexual?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us to understand if you lost your virginity.

A person's definition of what is a virgin and how one loses one's virginity can vary based on religious and cultural beliefs.

A virgin is someone who has never had sex.

But "sex" is defined differently by different people. A lot of people think that women and men lose their virginity the first time they have penis-in-vagina intercourse or vaginal sex. But this definition is really limited because it leaves lots of people and other types of sex out of the picture.

Figuring out if you count as a virgin or not is much less important than how you feel about your sexual experiences. What I think or any one else for that matter is not important.

Are you happy with the sexual experiences you've had or decided not to have? What can you do in the future to make sure the sexual decisions you make will keep you safe and happy?

Regards,
Maryann
