my boyfriend and i were basically doing it dry, he was pushing really hard against me and i'm pretty sure he slighlty entered (we were completely covered, he even had jeans on).. a bit naive but do you think this.. means i'm not a virgin?

Hi Anonymous,
I completely agree with what Cary told you--if there is not real penetration, you're still a virgin. The matter of virginity is an interesting one anyway. Many mistakenly think it's when the hymen is broken. Here's an article about that:

So the real thing of virginity is if you're sexually active or not. I believe if you're fooling around, you're toying with this idea. Here is a good article about figuring out if you're ready:

It's true that knowledge is power. If you're grown up enough to be fooling around, be responsible and accept that you owe it to yourself (and your future self) to take care of yourself. Protect yourself from unwanted pregnancy, and STDs. Don't go through this time of your life blindly. Enjoy it, live it, be in control.
Good luck, and let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi Anonymous

If you both had clothes on that covered you it is highly unlikely that you could have intercourse. But I do suggest you get some sex education and think about birth control so if you do end up having sex you will have planned for it and will be in control of what happens.

We get a lot of discussion on this topic: https://www.empowher.com/condition/sexual-well-being. Maybe reading it will help you. Good luck.
