Q:

How likely is it for me to get pregnant if I missed two pills in week 3 after having unprotected sex

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and missed one pill the night of, and another pill the next day. These are both in my 3rd week. Once I realized what happened I took one pill that came after the two I missed. How likely is it for me to become pregnant? I read that sperm can live in my body for up to 72 hours.

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

First of all, when you miss pills, you should start where you left off as soon as you remember, and do not double up.  It is true that birth control is less effective when you miss pills.  However, there is no way to determine whether or not you become pregnant form this event.

All you can do it keep taking your birth control as usual.  If you miss your period entirely than take a pregnancy test.  If you period is simply irregular then it is most likely due to the missed pills, not pregnancy.
