Good morning. I had unprotected sex on my 18/19th day and on my 23rd day of my menstrual cycle, both of which I took prostinor2 within 12 hours after intercourse. I'm now on my 31st day and my periods isn't here yet but I am getting menstrual cramps slightly as well as nausea and tiredness. Are these side effects since I took p2 twice within one week and how soon will I expect my periods. ..I am honestly not ready for another baby so I'm a bit nervous here. Please help. Thank you.

Guide

Hello Beautifullyand Uniquely Createdby God,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question regarding the use of Postinor 2.

Postinor 2 is a safe and effective emergency contraceptive when taken as directed. It is intended to be used in the event of a contraceptive failure, and should not be taken more than once in a one month or menstrual cycle period.

By taking the pill twice in the interval of four days, you seriously upset the hormonal balance that regulates the menstrual cycle. Postinor 2 prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. Thus, your next period could be earlier or later than normal in starting.

All that you can do is wait and use another form of birth control, such as a condom, if you are sexually active.

If you are not ready to have another baby, please talk with your gynecologist and find a form of birth control that works best for you. In addition to oral contraceptives, consider the Depo-Provera injection or an IUD.

Please take some time to visit the EmpowHER Contraceptive home page. https://www.empowher.com/contraception
I hope the information offered can help you with the conversation with your physician.
Regards,
Maryann
