I forgot to start a new pack of birth control pills bc we were in the middle of moving. I had went a week without so I decided to wait for next period to come before I started them back up.

Since you didn't start your next pack you definitely increased your chances of getting pregnant. Since you are a couple days late, taking a pregnancy test will definitely confirm if you are pregnant or not.

To answer your other question, your cycle can definitely be off too.  If you are not pregnant, generally speaking, your body should be back to "normal menstruation mode" within two to three months after stopping the pill.

You will need to check to see if you are pregnant before starting a new pack. I would call your doctor or talk with the pharmacist to see about getting back on the pill if that's what you want to do moving forward.
