I have irregular periods, they usually come every 3 months even 6 months sometimes, I've been to see the GP on a number of occasions, I've had ultra sound scans, urine sample tests, blood tests yet they don't find anything wrong with me. Anyway I had unprotected sex and within 8 hours I took the morning after pill I'm just wondering because of the irregularity of my period will the pill not be effective? meaning will it work? I'm very worried!

Guide

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

Having irregular periods (as you do) will not change the effectiveness of the emergency contraceptive.  Since you took it within 24 hours of having intercourse it will be 95% effective, which is the maximum.
