Is it normal to miss a period after taking plan b?

My LMP was Dec 9th and on Dec 12th (saturday)I had unprotected sex and took plan B. I took one pill that evening and I took the second pill late, i took it 15 hours later insetead of 12. In fear that the pill did not work I took another dose on Monday. I started to bleed exactly one week after taking the first pill on saturday Dec 19th, I've read that the bleeding could be "withdrawl" bleeding. Is it possible to ovulate again after having the withdrawl period?
My period is now late. I took 3 pregnancy tests this week and they all come back negative. Could it be that I will NOT get my period this month because I took 2 plan b pills in 3 days. I will also mention that I've been stressed out since having unprotected sex but I don't think i can relax until i get my period. Pleae help!!

How long does the spotting last till your period comes

Hello Anonymous,

You may have spotting for a two or three days. Within three weeks, you should have a normal period. Some women may start earlier or later than normal. If you do not have a period within three weeks of taking Next Choice, test for pregnancy.

Hello Anonymous,

Yes, spotting or unexpected bleeding is a normal side effect of taking Next Choice.

Hello Anonymous,

You should have a normal period within the next month after taking Next Choice. Sometimes, emergency contraception can change the length of your monthly menstrual cycle, making your next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual. Some women also find that the hormones in the pills can cause unexpected bleeding, but this is not a common or serious side effect. If your next period is late, you might consider getting a pregnancy test.

I took the plan B pill the middle of May. I had a very heavy period around June 15 that lasted 7 days. My cycle normally starts around the 1st of every month. I have NOT had a period sinceJune... I took 2 pregnancy tests and they both came back negative. I have been having pains in my lower abdomin as if my periods is about to start but it never does :( I am beyond stressed out over this.

Hello Anonymous,

You might want to consult your gynecologist on this. Changes in the menstrual cycle are a side effect that some women experience after taking Plan B. But, you had a period in June.

I am concerned that a hormone imbalance may be a possibility. A blood test may provide some information.

Hello meli,
You have upset the normal hormonal balance that regulates your menstrual cycle. Plan B contains levonorgestrel, which is the same ingredient found in most birth control pills, but at a much higher dose.

It works by preventing or delaying ovulation and by interfering with fertilization of a released egg.

It may take one to two months before your cycle returns to normal. Please do not take Plan B for a while. Strongly consider using birth control, not emergency contraceptive to prevent pregnancy.

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex about a month ago , I bought plan b. A week later, I started bleeding for about 3 days.. I had unprotected sex again , bought plan b again and bled for 3-4 days a week later... (He did not ejaculate inside of me or anywhere near me) I'm really worried ! I bought 3 pregnancy tests and they came out negative, I am not feeling any pregnancy symptoms..My period was always regular, Can it really mess up my cycle?
