Q:

Is it possible...

I am not a sexually active teenager. My periods are usually a full seven days, and the first two to three days are very heavy. I also almost always have an irregular period. The week before my period I cramp and ache really bad, along with moderate to severe bloating and acne. However, just over a month ago my boyfriend and I were fooling around. He did not put his penis inside me, but it was at my entrance. After that he fingered me. Of course reflecting on the situation I was really worried, but I got my period four days later. The blood was red and normal looking for me. I had severe pain and bloating. initially it was heavy as usual, but later the first day it significantly reduced. That period was EXTREMELY light compared to all previous ones and it only lasted 6 days. Just to make sure I have been taking home pregnancy tests once a week, all of which have been negative. I have stressed so much though that I have show signs of depression. I started my next period today, and according to my calendar I am one day early. As usual I am cramping horribly, but after the initial "bust" my flow has significantly lightened. The blood is fresh and there has been a few clots. Could stress about being afraid that I might be pregnant be causing my issues? Could I actually be pregnant? Or is it something else like a cyst?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  If you had intercourse, you are sexually active. In order for pregnancy to occur there would have to be unprotected intercourse during your fertile days. For most women with a regular period, is during day 11-21 counting the first day of your period as day one.  You won't get an accurate reading if you take a home pregnancy test every week.  Most pregnancy test will give you an accurate reading if taken after your period was due.  Stress can definitely, cause changes in a woman ovulation and menstrual period.  If you got your period, then you are not pregnant. Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy

I have also felt nauseous since about three days after the incident happened, but every time I think I might throw up, all I do is burp. I am just very worried because my period is suddenly so light right after that incident happened.
