Q:

Nausea after Orgasm?

This has been happening pretty much ever since the first time I had an orgasm. About 90% of the time, I will experience some pretty fierce nausea afterwards. I've never vomited as a result, but have frequently ended up with dry heaves.

I know it has nothing to do with a reaction to sperm, or repeated cervical contact, as I have never had sexual intercourse and I do not use penetration during masturbation(I get nothing from penetration). So this happens very frequently from clitoral stimulation alone.

I've seen a lot of theories, and some say hormones, while others say more serious stuff such as endometriosis or ovarian cysts.

For a little more info on myself, I'm 23, and has been happening since my first orgasm(probably around 14 or so?). I'm moderately overweight, but even when I was a normal weight I experienced the same reaction. I've never really had a normal menstrual cycle and do have a lot of the symptoms for PCOS(though I am not diagnosed), so I would not be surprised if it was hormonal or cyst related.

Any ideas on the most likely cause? Or any ideas on how to alleviate it some without having to go to a doctor? (I am unfortunately without health insurance as I cannot afford it)

Hi Shushu,

Welcome to EmpowHER. It's not common to experience this after having an orgasm. This symptom can be due to many things such as your blood flow, hormonal and many other. You need to see a doctor, in order to know what can be causing these symptoms.  Since you don't have health insurance you might want to check with your local hospital or clinic. Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy
