Q:

Plan B side effect or pregnancy?

Hello.
Three days after my period ended, I had sex with my boyfriend. I wasn't ovulating. We used a condom, but it broke. We went and got the plan B pill right away, and I had taken the first pill less than an hour after it happened. I didn't feel sick while taking it like I was warned I might, and thought everything was fine. Now, 5 days later, I am experiencing some light spotting which is a dark brownish with a little light pink. My period isn't due for about 2 weeks. Is this implantation bleeding or just a side effect from the plan b pill? Please help, I am so scared!

Hi,

I had unprotected sex 5 days ago and he did not "pull out". I took a plan b pill the next morning, but I got it from a friend and it turned out to be expired by 5 months. I have been expecting my period, but this morning there was a brown-clearish discharge with small pieces of something when I wiped. Is this caused by the plan b or is it implantation bleeding??

Thanks ladies

Hello Anonymous,

Wait. If this brown discharge lasts only another day or two, never increases to a flow, it could be implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding occurs about six to 12 days following conception.

I took plan B about 65 hours after sex... I had no side effects. I am now a day or so late(my period range from 25-28 days) I don't "feel" pregnant but the last couple days when I wipe I have pinkish discharge. I took a test near end of the day and it came back negative...could I still be pregnant?

Hello Anonymous,

How long after taking Plan B did you test.

The recommendation is if you do not have any vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, test for pregnancy.

Hi. I had unprotected sex around the time I was fertile (according to an app I have to track my period) which was November 8th. I took plan b the morning after and experienced a little pain in my lower abs but nothing too bad. I've been having to pee pretty frequently but I also think I may have a UTI (I get them quite often) so that could be causing the increase in peeing. I started seeing some light pink discharge when I wipe about a week ago but it went away after a few days. I had some light cramping a few days ago and I was supposed to get my period yesterday, November 23, but I just got some light spotting of red blood throughout the day and then it started to become more brownish. This is 15 days after I had sex and I know they say IP can happen up to 12 days after so I'm hoping that this isn't IP. Is it possible that I'm pregnant or is this just side effects of the pill?

Im kind of freaking out. The first day of my last period was October 24th. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex Early in the morning on November 4th. I took plan B, 7 and 1/2 hours later. I have had no symptoms of pregnancy at all, I feel completely normal, but 6 days after taking the pill I started having light bleeding, that was off and on through the day. It's not like a normal period even though I do feel a little bit of cramps, the color is off. It's more of a dirty brown color. It's now November 12th and I'm still having the problem, only I'm starting to see more cervical mucus instead of the brown blood. I don't know if this is a side effect of plan b or if it's implantation bleeding. I've taken several pregnancy test and they all say negative. My period isn't supposed to start until the 21st of November. Please help!!!

I ended my period 17th and had unprotected sex on the 19th. I took plan b next day. Now it's been a week and I noticed pink discharge when I wiped. Could this be implantation bleeding??

Hello Anonymous,

I doubt this pink discharge is implantation bleeding. The reason is it was too early in your menstrual cycle, that is on October 19 just two days after your period ended, to be ovulating. Thus, no risk for becoming pregnant during unprotected sex.

You took Plan B which most likely triggered the discharge.

Keep an eye on it and see whether the discharge continues or increases to a flow.

My period started on the 5th of September. I took a contraceptive pill on the 12th of Sep. The same day I had interocurse. 7 days later I was bleeding it went on for a week or so and ended. It's been 3 weeks since I should have got my period, but it still isn't here. I've taken 10 home tests in the course of this past month and every single one came out negative. Please help.

Hello Anonymous,

The bleeding which started seven days after taking the ECP showed the pill worked and you did not become pregnant.

Contact your gynecologist about your late period. Three weeks late is a concern. You may have a hormonal imbalance as a result of taking the ECP.
