Q:

Plan B side effect or pregnancy?

Hello.
Three days after my period ended, I had sex with my boyfriend. I wasn't ovulating. We used a condom, but it broke. We went and got the plan B pill right away, and I had taken the first pill less than an hour after it happened. I didn't feel sick while taking it like I was warned I might, and thought everything was fine. Now, 5 days later, I am experiencing some light spotting which is a dark brownish with a little light pink. My period isn't due for about 2 weeks. Is this implantation bleeding or just a side effect from the plan b pill? Please help, I am so scared!

I'd love to know what happened to this person because I'm currently going through the same exact thing.
And also did she not said she did it on the 22nd? Not the 16th.

I'm freaking out.

I started my sugar pills/stopped my packet the 27th of July. I had my period for 3 days and I never started another packet. Me and hubby have been trying all of August and I'm usually on time and I should get my period the 24th of August but I haven't gotten it yet. I've been having cramps, feeling bloated, my breasts have been more sore than usual, and a bit nauseous. Could this be PMS or early pregnancy symptoms

Hello Anonymous,

You can take an early response pregnancy test. Test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom. It is concentrated and will give you the most accurate result.

Hello,
I took plan b the morning after I had sex. I did not get my period on my regular date, but I know if can come later. It had been 9 days after taking the pill (7 days from my missed period) and I had brown discharge and last night I had a little discharge as well. Is this a side effect and my period will come? or could I be pregnant? Thank you in advanced.

Hello Anonymous,

Plan B prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. So, when in your menstrual cycle you took it will make a difference.

The rule of thumb is if you do not have any bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, test for pregnancy.

Maryann

My last period was July 28 and ended Aug 1. I had sex with my boyfriend Aug 9 and he told me he had ejaculated in me a little bit. We didn't think of Plan B until about 24 hrs later and thats when I took it right away. It is now Aug 17 and I had been having menstral like cramps all morning and I'm bleeding but its a bit light. Should I be worried or is this a sign the pill worked?

Hello Anonymous,

You don't need to worry. The cramping and light bleeding are side effects of the pill. It is safe to say it worked. Your next period could start on time. But, some women experience the side effect of the next period starting earlier or later than expected. Menstrual flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

Maryann

My girlfriend and I had sex 2 days after her period and three days after that she took plan b. It's been 5 days since plan b and she has had tender breasts, feeling sick, not liking some food, and now really light brown blood in her underwear. Is it implantation bleeding or plan b?

Hello Anonymous,

Plan B prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. Five days following the end of her period was probably to early to prevent ovulation. There was probably no risk for pregnancy during intercourse two days after her period ended.

The light brown discharge, which is old blood and uterine lining left from her last period, is caused by taking Plan B, as are her symptoms.

Maryann
