Risk of Pregnancy

Hi there,

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend about a month ago and he finished inside of me. The night prior (say Wednesday) to this I had forgotten to take my pill and didn't realise. I took my pill as normal on Thursday without realising i'd missed a dose, woke up Friday morning and saw it sitting in my pill packet and took it straight away. I then followed the advice of my pill booklet and continued taking pills as normally at my normal time throughout my placebo week and into the next month (No break).I hadn't missed a dose in the 7 days (or month) prior to this mishap and have not missed a dose since. I am starting to worry whether I am pregnant or not as i've been very achy and have started to experience cramps, I just can't seem to get it off my mind. I take Yasmin 28-day combination pills. I didn't receive my period due to not having a pill free week, but experienced breakthrough bleeding all month until about 2 days ago (basically a month). I'm meant to be having my next period in 2 days but I am worried. What are my chances of becoming pregnant in summary of the following: Missed a pill 3 days before placebo week, had sex the next day, boyfriend finished inside, took my pill that night but didn't notice until the morning after that i had missed a pill. Took it at 9am (i take pills at 10pm). took the last pill of the pack the next day as normal then started new pack the following day(did not have placebo week). i have not missed a day since.

Hello han19992,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us for help, but you need to speak to your gynecologist.

My concern is the breakthrough bleeding that lasted one month. This proves you are not pregnant, so you can stop worrying about that. The big concern is why you bled that long.

Please call to speak with your doctor today. Kindly keep us updated once you have done so.

Regards,
Maryann
