Should I be worried

Okay so I had my period it was heavy for the first 3 days and light for the next 2 days (5 days total)
A week later (7 days after the first day of my period) I took a hpt
It was negative do I need to worry about being pregnant as I've read somewhere false negatives are very common
I took the test in the afternoon but I didn't drink any water or eat anything or use the bathroom for like 5 hours before I took the test
Should I be worried or am I in fact not pregnant

Just to add my period seemed pretty regular I normally have a heavy period that then gets lighter and I normally have painful cramps on the first 2 or 3 days and this is what I experienced this time too
I'm concerned as me and my partner had unprotected sex 2 weeks prior
