Hi my question is pertained to the use of postinor 2 and it's effecriveness. My period May 15-20, I had unprotected sex on May 30 and took the pill on the first of June, my period was suppose to come on June 12 but it didn't on so far my symptom is tenderness of the breast. Is it likely that the pill didn't work and I might be pregnant or its just due later because of the pill?? Is it necessary to take a pregnancy test? Urgently waiting on your response #worried

Guide

Hello and thank you for sharing your question,
Periods can be late for other reasons besides pregnancy such as slight hormonal imbalances or stress. Taking the pill longer than 24 hours after having sex decreases its effectiveness. However, you will not be able to tell at this point whether or not you are pregnant because it is too soon for a pregnancy test to be accurate.
You need to wait. If your period does not come at all for the next 2 weeks. Then take a pregnancy test. This is the proper time you must wait in order for the test results to be accurate. At this point, all you can do is wait it out.
