I want to know if it's okay to use birth control pills back to back. I've been taking birth control for a year now, and I have always taken the pills as directed, and always had a 'period' (withdrawal bleeding) in between packs. My pill is the type that has 21 in a box. However I am overseas now and I am thinking of using three packs back to back - I am soon at the end of one pack (ends tomorrow, Saturday) and I am thinking of starting the second pack on Sunday, and then using that for 21 days, and then a third one right after that.
I just wanted to know if this is advisable, or if I should not do this? I have friends that take two packs one right after the other, and then have a period. Could this affect my fertility in the future? I know that a lot of people do it, but I've never done it before and I'm nervous that it could have some sort of adverse effect in the future.

Hello Maryann, I spoke to my gyno and she said tht it's safe to use it even when close to the expiration date. however i don't want to take any risks.
